The OED defines a yurt as being: "a circular tent of felt or skins on a collapsible framework, used by nomads in Mongolia, Siberia, and Turkey."
I chose this name mostly as a play on the word Camping, which is the microframework that Yurt uses for the web UI.
I have never slept in a yurt myself, but a quick look at the images discovered by Google easily illustrates that yurts might just be the coolest forms of portable housing ever.
